On the initiative of INSO "Polar World"
a Committee on organization and
realization of the jubilee dedicated to the 100th anniversary of
G.A.Ushakov has been organized and the plan for 2000-2001 has been
developed.
The planned places of the jubilee actions: Moscow, Arkhangelsk,
Vladivostok, Kaliningrad, Murmansk, Saint Petersburg, Khabarovsk, Jewish
SC, Chukotka, Severnaya Zemlya (isl. Sredny, isl. Domashny), isl. Ushakov,
isl. Wrangel. The centre of events: Moscow.
Organized actions
Such actions have been organized in 2000-2001 within the jubilee of
G.A.Ushakov:

- On the initiative of the Middle - Amur region's (Jewish SC)
social organization of explorers the memorial board has been opened in
Ushakovsky district on the Day of Birobidzhan city (May, 2000). The
diploma of the conferment of the rank of Honorary Citizen of Jewish SC to
G.A.Ushakov has been identically handed to M.G.Ushakova. The meetings with
G.A.Ushakov's fellow countrymen, IKARP DVO RAN's staff, BGPII's and IUU's
professors, teachers and students, and Birobidzhan schoolchildren have
been organized. Before that, the memorial boards have been opened in
Khabarovsk and Lazarevo village. G.A.Ushakov's personal expositions have
been organized in the regional museum of Birobidzhan and in the school
museums of Khabarovsk, Lazarevo and Babstovo villages. The documentary
film about the life of G.A.Ushakov has been produced. Two streets in
Lazarevo and Leninskoe villages have been called by the name of
G.A.Ushakov.

- In August, 2000 at XI congress of Russian Geographic Society in
Arkhangelsk and in October, 2000 at the meeting of Russian Geographic
Society in Saint-Petersburg the reports about the 100th anniversary of
G.A.Ushakov have been read.
- In November, 2000 INSO "Polar World" and Federal Frontier Service of
RF organized an expedition to the archipelago Severnaya Zemlya to the
house - museum of G.A.Ushakov's expedition (1930 - 1932) and to the
meteorological station on Golomyanny island. The special report has been
made by NTV.
- In December, 2000 an international conference "Land - Ocean Interacton
in the Russians Arctic (LOIRA)" dedicated to the 100th anniversary of
G.A.Ushakov has been organized. The reports about G.A.Ushakov, his
contribution to the research and mastering of Arctic, and actions
dedicated to the 100th anniversary of famous polar researcher have been
read.

oceanology, RAN (Moscow), in the Museum of Arctic and Antarctic
(Saint-Petersburg), in the North Naval Museum (Arkhangelsk).

- The methodical lections at PGU (Arkhangelsk) and the jubilee meetings
of Russian Geographic Society in Moscow and Saint-Petersburg have been
held.
- The mobile exhibiton dedicated to the 100th anniversary of G.A.Ushakov
has been organized and led in Moscow Centre of Russian Geographic Society
and in the Centre of children's and youth's creativity "Tushino" (Moscow).
- The competition of children's creativity "Children and Polar World"
has been opened.
- The articles have been published in the magazines "The Northern Open
Spaces", "The Faces" and the newspapers "Pole of Hope", "Behind the
Kaluzhskaya Tall-gate", "Polar Circle", " Independent Newspaper".
- The jubilee postal envelopes has been released. Series include
"The Russian Polar Explorer G.A.Ushakov" envelope and 7 envelopes
with G.A.Ushakov's drawings.
